Description
The Rivers State Amnesty Committee has enlisted additional two hundred and fifty-five members of Mbolo and Agbagba Marines in Abonnema town in Akuku-Toru Local Government Area in the amnesty programme.
The repentant criminals who had involved in pipeline vandalism, piracy, kidnapping and high sea robbery also surrendered arms to the Rivers State amnesty committee.
Reports have it that the committee recovered one Ak-47, eleven Dane guns, forty-five cutlasses, over one thousand ammunition, seven cartridges, forty-two dynamites, forty-two detonator and two locally made pistols.
The leader of Agbagba Marine, TOBY DIEPREYE said they decided to surrender voluntarily, just as he urged the government to show sincerity on the implementation of the program.
In his response; the Special Adviser to the Governor on Amnesty, KENNETH CHINDA assured the repentant cultists that they would be rehabilitated, trained and given employment.
