Operatives of the Nigerian marine police have foiled a kidnap attempt on officers of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) in Delta state

The kidnappers were armed Ijaw youths who opened fire on the immigration officers and the police rescue team before carting away weapons belonging to the NIS operatives
