The Rivers State Police Command said its operatives have arrested two teenage boys who allegedly defiled a 12-year-old girl in Rumuodomaya community in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of the state.

The suspects simply identified as Chibuike (14) and Christopher (15), who have been on the run, were arrested two months after they committed the crime.

The third teenage suspect is said to be at large since he and his two friends allegedly perpetrated the act in November 2021.

The acting Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Grace Iringe-Koko, confirmed the arrest to our correspondent on the telephone on Wednesday.

“Yes, the boys have been arrested and the matter is still under investigation.

“Currently, the case been transferred to the State Criminal and Investigation Department,” she said.

Reacting to the arrest, father of the girl told journalists in Port Harcourt that the teenage boys had in November 2021 abducted his daughter while she was going to dispose refuse.

The father, who did not want his name mentioned, said the suspects took turn to defile his daughter for three hours and warned her not to reveal their identities.

He said medical examination conducted on his daughter showed that she was badly injured.

He commended the police for the discreet investigation which lasted over two months, leading to the arrest of the suspects.
