Vice Chairman of Aniocha South Local Government Area of Delta State, Miss Amaka Adigwe, and three others have been remanded in correctional custody.

They were remanded by a magistrate court sitting in Asaba, the state capital, for allegedly assaulting police officers on official duty.

The PUNCH gathered that the Vice Chairman was arraigned on Friday alongside one Samuel Agu, and two others.

Adigwe, a 26-year-old lady, was said to have slapped a policeman during an attempt by policeman to search her Sport Utility Vehicle marked Delta Asaba-33HK.

The situation was said to have resulted into a skirmish during which she and three others reportedly pounced on the policemen.

The suspects were arraigned at Magistrate Court 1, in Asaba on 16-count charges and remanded at Ogwashi-Uku and Agbor Correctional Centres.

When contacted on Sunday, the state Police Public Relations Officer, Edafe Bright, confirmed the incident, adding that the case has been adjourned till March 16, for hearing.

“Yes, it true. The suspects have been remanded as the case adjourned to March 16, 2022,” he said.
