The Guardian learnt that seven others were hospitalized as a result of injuries sustained in the accident. Director, Communications and Media Strategy of the party, Mr. Ima Niboro, who confirmed the accident in a statement made available to newsmen in Asaba, said the accident occurred on Tuesday evening, and involved loyal party members and supporters who were returned from APC rally in Okerenkoko community.

According to Niboro, a commercial boat travelling in the opposite direction rammed into the boat carrying APC supporters, and it resulted to the tragic accident.

He said: “We are shocked by this tragedy, and our hearts are heavy. Our prayers and thoughts are with the victims and their families. This is one tragedy too many, and our party is officially in mourning.
