The Abia State Police Command has said it lost an inspector in an attack by gunmen.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, SP Ogbonna Geoffrey, noted that the attack happened around 12.31pm on Tuesday at Aba.

He said, “A police surveillance patrol team from the Ndiegoro division in Aba came under attack while on a surveillance patrol along Iheorji-Ohanku Road by armed men.

“The armed men opened fire on the patrol team and in the ensuing gun duel, two of the hoodlums were neutralised and others fled with gunshot injuries, while one police inspector among the surveillance team paid the supreme price with his AK-47 rifle, carted away.”
