The commission of inquiry constituted by the River State government to investigate the killings and violence that marred the December 10, 2016 re-run election in the state has commenced sitting in Port Harcourt.

The commission’s chairman, Justice Chinwendu Nwogu explained that the commission would restrict itself to the remote and immediate causes of the violence. He added that the panel would identify the perpetrators of violence, the victims, as well as ascertain if property were destroyed in the process.
