A young boy, Bassey Edet, has been killed by a bus which allegedly rammed into a motor park in Odigbo town, the headquarters of the Odigbo Local Government Area of Ondo State.

It was gathered that the victim was selling snacks at the park before the unfortunate incident happened on Saturday. The accident involved a Toyota Picnic with registration number EPE 576DC.

An eyewitness said the driver of the vehicle, whose identity had not been revealed as at the time of filing this report, was allegedly drunk while driving.

“The driver was on top speed, rammed into the park and killed the teenager. The people who rushed to the scene of the accident were smelling alcohol from the driver’s body,” the eyewitness narrated.

It was learnt that the driver of the vehicle has been arrested by the police, while the damaged vehicle and motorcycle were towed to Odigbo Police Station.

Meanwhile, the remains of the deceased had been deposited at the morgue in Ore.

The Ondo state Police Public Relations Officer, Funmilayo Odunlami, said investigation had commenced into the incident.
