The Chief Security Officer of Obelle community, Emohua Local Government Area of Rivers State, Charles Martins has reportedly been shot dead by a Joint Task Force Team, JTF.

The operatives of the JTF, were on Thursday, alleged to have sighted the Obelle CSO with a gun in the community while on patrol.

Reports claimed Martins was stopped by the JTF patrol because of the gun he was carrying and asked to approach the patrol team.

A source from the community who confirmed the killing of the community CSO told DAILY POST that the victim had intended to escape after he was sighted with the gun.

It was also alleged that a member of the JTF team pulled his gun and shot at Martins after he tried to escape.

The killing of the Obelle CSO, who had earlier abandoned service with the Nigerian Army and returned home following the killing of his father by cultists has now created tension in the community.

The Nigerian Army is yet to react to the incident.
