Again, gunmen struck at Owevwe community, Ughelli North Council Area of Delta State shot dead a man and whisked away the community President General’s wife to an unknown destination.

The identity of the slain young man was given as Sunday Oshovwe while kidnapped wife of the Community PG is known as Mrs Mercy Akpovukoko.

DAILY INDEPENDENT gathered that the wife of the community President, Mrs Akpovukoko was kidnapped from her family compound recently.

A source from the community, who spoke on conditions of anonymity, said, “The kidnapping of our community leader’s wife led to the killing of our brother Sunday Oshovwe who is in his late 30s and his death have brought grief to his family and friends.
“Narrating the account, the source said, he and others friends were sitting at the store of president wife when the kidnappers stormed the place around 7:14 pm on Tuesday, and Sunday was unlucky while others escaped.

Though the Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Edafe Bright could not be contacted but a senior Police officer attached to the Agbarha-otor police command in the State confirmed the incident.
The security source said, “The wife of Owevwe community president general, Mrs Mercy Akpovukoko was kidnapped and in the process they shot one boy.
“She was kidnapped from their house and as at that time, her husband, Philip Akpovukoko was not around.”
