POLICE in Akwa Ibom state on Tuesday confirmed evacuating the corpse of a woman found beheaded along the Banking Layout, Udo Udoma Avenue, in Uyo the state capital.

Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Akwa Ibom Command, SP Odiko Mcdon said the Commissioner of Police, Olatoye Durusimmi, has ordered an investigation into the incident.

Odiko stated, “We received the report and our men rushed to the scene. She was beheaded but other parts of the body were intact. The CP, Olatoye Durusimmi has ordered a discreet investigation into the incident
We assure Akwa Ibom people that perpetrators of the dastardly act will be brought to book.”

Residents and workers in the area narrated being shocked to see the corpse of the woman with her head severed.

One source said the body was found in a pool of blood near the fence of the Akwa Ibom State Internal Revenue Service (AKIRS) and was quickly evacuated by the police on Monday afternoon.

The AKIRS staff stated, “We were shocked on Monday morning when we came to work and found the corpse lying close to our entrance “

Residents identified the victim as the woman who cultivates fallow lands around the Banking Layout and lives within one of the farms.

The killers had abandoned her body by the roadside with the severed head lying not far from rest of the body with no parts missing.
