In an alarming development, reports circulating on social media suggest that three students from the University of Calabar (UNICAL) have been kidnapped, sparking widespread concern and calls for urgent action.
According to an unverified post shared on X (formerly Twitter) by a concerned media user, Damilola Dickson, Ugwu Chukwuemeka, and Ojang Precious Ebejin, all students of UNICAL, have allegedly fallen victim to abduction.
The post, which has since gained traction online, details the harrowing circumstances surrounding the disappearance of the students. Damilola Dickson, described as a final year student in the Department of Genetics and Biotechnology, is reportedly among those abducted. The gravity of the situation is exacerbated by the revelation that Dickson, an only child, is just months away from graduating.
Additionally, Ugwu Chukwuemeka, a 300-level student in the Genetics and Biotechnology department, and Ojang Precious Ebejin, a 200-level student of Medicine and Surgery, are purportedly among the victims of the alleged kidnapping.
Expressing deep concern and urgency, the media user behind the post issued a heartfelt plea for assistance from various stakeholders. Notable figures were implored to lend their support in any way possible to secure the safe return of the abducted students.
In a poignant appeal directed at the University of Calabar's security apparatus, the Commissioner of Police, and the Cross River State Government, the post underscored the critical need for swift action in addressing the distressing situation.
As the online community mobilizes in response to the troubling news, efforts are underway to verify the authenticity of the claims and mobilize support for the affected students and their families.
