A lecturer in the Department of Zoology in the University of Calabar, Professor Edet Ekpenyong was kidnapped this morning.

Professor Ekpenyong was on his routine jogging exercise from the varsity’s staff quarters to the Abraham Ordia stadium.

Sources in the institution say there was intense shooting before the gunmen whisked Professor Edet Away.

The Public Relations Officer to the University, Effiong Eyo did not take his calls when contacted thrice between 9:49 and 9:52AM this morning.
